Editorial Policy

This page explains how content on Plantbaes is made, so you can decide how much to trust it.

Who writes the content

Every guide and tool on Plantbaes is written and maintained by the Plantbaes Editorial Team. You can read about the team, and the limits of what it offers, on the About page. There are no anonymous or ghost-written articles. If we ever publish a guest contribution, the guest will be named.

How topics are chosen

We write about questions people actually ask. We find them in search suggestions, keyword research tools, forum threads and readers' emails. We prefer practical, specific questions we can answer well over broad topics where large publishers already do a good job.

Research and sources

  • Numbers come from named sources. Where we use nutrition values, measurements or reference figures, we name the source, such as USDA FoodData Central, the Compendium of Physical Activities, or the ASPCA plant toxicity list. Values are rounded and labelled as approximate.
  • Worked examples are illustrative. Examples use realistic but made-up scenarios, and we say so. They show how a calculation works, not what you should do.
  • No invented statistics or quotes. If we can't source a number, we don't use it. We don't make up survey results, expert quotes or testimonials.
  • Experience is labelled as experience. When a tip comes from personal practice rather than research, the text makes that clear.

How tools are checked

Every calculator does one documented calculation. The formula is written out on the tool's page, along with at least one worked example you can check by hand. Automated tests run each tool with known inputs and compare the output with the expected result before every release.

AI and automation

We may use software tools for tasks such as spell-checking, formatting and code testing. Every article is reviewed and edited by the Plantbaes Editorial Team before publication, and the team is responsible for its content.

Corrections

If you find an error, please email info@plantbaes.net with the page and the problem. We aim to review every report. Substantive corrections are made promptly, and the "Updated" date on the page changes.

Advertising and independence

The site is funded by display ads from Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence over what we write. We don't accept payment for reviews or rankings. If that ever changes, sponsored content will be clearly labelled.

Updates

Guides are reviewed periodically. When we make meaningful changes, we update the date shown in the byline.
